(PLA) Crayola Imagine Arts Academy: Guided Art Lesson

November 2 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

(Release Date: August 26th at 12:00 noon)

This event is for PLA students and their families. All students must be accompanied by an adult. Recommended for PLA grades K-8th.

Calling all aspiring artists to join us at the Crayola Imagine Arts Academy for a guided workshop that will inspire creativity! At the Arts Academy, children will learn foundational art techniques while fostering the development of creative problem-solving and critical thinking skills. At the end of the workshop, each student will have their own unique piece of artwork to take home!

We have two exciting workshops to offer:

Grades K-3rd (10:00 am – 11:00 am) – “WILD WORLD: Coiled Turtles & Sheltering Shells” – From sleek sea turtles to sturdy, land-based tortoises, turtles come in many shapes and sizes, and can be found in different habitats. They also face many threats, so they need our help! Kids create unique turtle sculptures to inspire people and raise awareness. They start by sculpting a coil to make the shell and then add extra pieces and colors to make their own turtle sculptures.

Grades 4th-8th (11:00 am – 12:00 pm) – : “ARTBLAZERS: Magic Self-Portraits inspired by Frida Kahlo” – In Artblazers, students learn about artists who changed the world. For this workshop, we will step into the shoes of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo! She created over 100 self-portraits that expressed her reality and her ideals. In this workshop, kids will create their own self-portraits in the style of magic realism to express their inner selves.

***Due to space limitations, only participating students and the Sage Oak chaperone will enter the art studio. Parents are welcome to wait outside or drop students off. There is a shopping center with a Starbucks at the corner, if parents would like to wait there.***
