Virtual Learning Academy
Community and Connection
The Virtual Learning Academy fosters community and connection through live sessions three days a week, promoting hands-on, project-based learning and peer collaboration. The remaining two days allow for self-paced studies or optional enrichment classes like robotics, cooking, and art. Monthly field trips, schoolwide socials, an annual career fair, and ‘Art in the Park’ events further enrich the sense of community for VLA students.
Curriculum
Students in this program will be provided with a Chromebook, all curriculum, and materials, and it also includes a grade-level specific field trip. Along with three days of direct instruction, students are also given the opportunity to participate in clubs and enrichment classes offered by academy teachers. No instructional funds are allotted to students in this program.
All of our students and parents should have the Canvas Student App downloaded on a device (Apple Store or Google Play Store) in order to clearly take work sample photos and upload them to Canvas and be able to track student progress.

Parent-Teacher Collaboration
A key part of the Virtual Academy is our partnership with parents. Teachers regularly communicate classroom updates, and parents check in with students, follow up on their progress, and reach out to teachers with any concerns to support student growth. This virtual model of independent study provides support where students need it, and our collaboration is key to their success.
