September VLA Focus: Service
Once a month, we have a student assembly with a dress-up day, student highlights, and a raffle. Our theme for this month is service. Service is one of our Student Learner Outcomes (SLOs). We want our students to contribute positively to their communities, show kindness and compassion, and demonstrate a willingness to support others as they grow. This month, we will be highlighting one specific student in each class for their commitment to service and will also be raffling In-N-Out excellence awards for nominated students across classes.

Sign up for our Service Trip and Back to School Social
In the spirit of our theme for this month of service, we hope many of you can join us for our school-wide community service project – the Huntington Beach Clean Up on Friday, September 25th at 10am! Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity for our whole school to come together and serve our community. Our Back to School Social will follow at 12pm with classes and teachers spending time together playing games, participating in crafts and eating lunch together! Bring your own picnic lunch, blankets, and beach gear to enjoy the afternoon together. Let’s kick off the year by making a difference and making memories at the beach! Sign up here!

Digital Readiness
In today’s tech-driven world, it’s more important than ever for students to feel confident and prepared. With these engaging, step-by-step lessons and hands-on activities, your child will learn essential computer skills, like identifying the parts of a computer, using a mouse and touchpad, controlling the cursor, and interacting with on-screen buttons. These fun activities provide a strong foundation in digital readiness, giving students the confidence they need to succeed in school and beyond.
Check out these resources today and give your child the tools for real-world success!

PAGE – Program for Advanced and Gifted Education
Sage Oak’s PAGE (Program for Advanced and Gifted Education) supports gifted, talented, and high-achieving students in grades 3–8 through opportunities designed to challenge and engage advanced learners.
Think your student may qualify? Reach out to your child’s teacher to begin the screening process. Students previously identified as gifted and talented at another school do not need to be reassessed if their GATE identification can be verified.

Class Zoom links can be found in Canvas or your student’s Google Calendar.
It’s not too late to enroll – enrollment will remain open all year long. There is still space in some Quarter 1 classes for your student to enjoy. While our VLA program has purchased supplies for all Quarter 1 enrollments, VLA families are still welcome to sign up for classes and procure materials on their own. Check out this unique hybrid experience:
