Welcome to the first full week of live classes! Be sure to check your Student Central or the Live Schedule to see when your classes are meeting! ✅ Learning Period Meetings: Learning Period Meetings (LPMs) are held once every 15-20 days to review a student’s body of work, provide support and share important updates. For high school, a minimum of one LPM per semester must be held in-person. The remaining LPMs can be scheduled virtually or in-person as is best to support the student. If you did not meet with your EA in August in-person, please note that the LP1 meeting will be in-person. Look for communication from your EA in the coming days on how to schedule it! 💃 Homecoming 2024: Join Sage Oak’s inaugural Homecoming dance on Saturday, October 26th. 7pm – 11pm held at Chaffey College Chino Community Center. Tickets are on sale NOW on the Sage Oak website – $55/pp or $100/couple. Alumni welcome! 📣 Join ASB: Calling all future leaders, event planners and community builders! The ASB/Student council application is now open! Come meet other students, help plan events and develop your leadership skills. COURSE TO DOs 💻 Organize your Canvas Dashboard: Start the year off right by organizing your Canvas dashboard with these two tips! Watch this quick video on how to do both of these steps! Only show current classes: Click Courses on the left sidebar and then All Courses. Click the ⭐ next to the courses you want to show on your dashboard. Rename Canvas shells: If you have a Canvas shell called “Other English” or “CC 1” you can rename the square to your actual course name by clicking the three dots on the top right and changing the nickname. 👀 CP Oversight Classes: Student attending in-person community providers for core classes must be enrolled in our CP Oversight course which is overseen by a Sage Oak credentialed teacher. Students must submit the following for the courses to be approved: Course Syllabus: This should already be uploaded into the Canvas courses. Access to the entire body of work: Students will share their log in to the CP portal or access to a Google folder with all work completed. Access to an updated gradebook: Students will share their log in to the CP portal or a separate gradebook that is updated each Learning Period.If a syllabus and access to the full body of work and updated grades is not provided before the end of Learning Period 1, students may not be able to earn high school content credit for the courses. Please reach out to your EA with any questions. ➗ Mr. D Math Courses: Students enrolled in one of our Mr. D math courses can save time by printing out all of the weekly course work for the semester now! Head to the Welcome Module and look for the section called “Print Course Work”. |

SCHOOL-WIDE SERVICE PROJECT 🌏 Come serve with us! Join our VLA, PLA & HS programs with a school-wide beach clean up in Huntington Beach on September 20th starting at 9am! Sage Oak students and families from all grades and all programs are encouraged to participate. Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity for our whole school to come together and serve our community as a part of the 40th anniversary of California Coastal Cleanup Day! Sign up HERE. 📱Sage Oak HS Discord: All high school students are invited to join the HS Discord group to meet other Sage Oak students, get reminders about upcoming events and make plans for connecting at field trips and HS hangouts. Click HERE to join the channel and then message moderator Brenda Ramirez on the channel with your name and your EA’s name to be approved. HS FIELD TRIPS Save the dates and the instructional funds for these upcoming high school trips! Sacramento Day Trip: Join us for a day trip up to Sacramento where we will see the state capitol, tour a local college and explore the city. Cost will be approximately $550 and instructional funds can be used. (Note: Trip pending board approval on Feb 26) Spring Break Trip: This year out Spring Break trip will be to Chicago where we will explore the sights and sounds of the Windy City! The cost will be $2100 to $2300 depending on the number of students that attend. More details to come! HS EVENTS 🌅 FRIDAY Senior Sunrise: All Class of 2025 graduates are invited to celebrate the start of senior year with September sunrise and snacks! We will be meeting on Friday, September 13th at 6AM on the Huntington City Beach to the right of the pier. You bring chairs or blankets. We’ll bring snacks and a time to reflect on your final year of high school! Sign up HERE. |
