Sage Oak is closed in observance of the Labor Day holiday.

First Day of School – September 7th
The first day of school is coming up Tuesday, September 7th! We can’t wait to kick off the new school year with you.

Sage Store
The Sage Oak spirit store will open on Friday, September 10th! Represent Sage Oak with spirit gear this year. Orders will ship directly to your door. The store will close on Sunday, September 19th.

We have grown!
We are excited to share our counseling department has grown! Carlos Santiago has joined the Sage Oak team, and he brings a wealth of excellent knowledge and experience! Allie Whalen will now be working primarily with students in grades TK-6 and Carlos with grades 7-12.

We are thrilled to be able to offer additional support and services to our students. We will share counseling program updates and offerings in the Sage News. In addition, if you have any questions about our program or wish to speak to a counselor, please complete the Counselor Request Form, and we will reach out to you to schedule an appointment. We look forward to a fantastic year!

Upcoming Events
We heard your feedback, and we will be offering the following services this year:

Social-Emotional Learning Classes: Your Sage Oak counselors will host weekly, live 15-30 minute Social-Emotional Learning classes taught by grade-level bands. Lessons will address Self Awareness, Self Regulation, Self Efficacy, Perseverance, Social Awareness, Sense of Belonging. We will share these lessons live, but we will send you a recorded version to watch later if you miss a class. All enrolled students will participate in the interactive reflection time with their counselors, Ms. Allie (Grade TK-6) & Mr. Carlos (Grades 7-12). Classes will start on Tuesday, September 21st. Counseling Groups: We got great feedback on our counseling groups last year, and this year we will be adding additional opportunities for students to participate. We will kick off the year by offering TK-12 grade-level groups: Social Skills, Executive Functioning, Feeling: Expression & Regulation, Career & College Exploration. Coffee with Counselor: A monthly drop-in opportunity for parents to get help, advice, and support with academic counseling, college/career readiness, and more! Our first meeting will be Monday, September 27th at 1 pm. Here is that link.
Is It a Phase, or Does My Child Need Help? It’s a question many parents ask themselves. We want to ensure you have the right resources to meet your children’s needs. For families interested in seeking personalized, private guidance on navigating behavioral and mental healthcare treatment, please see our website for additional information.

Field Trips

Virtual Parent Summit
Save the Date for this year’s annual Virtual Parent Summit on Tuesday, September 14th. Sign up on the Sage Oak website from September 1st – 8th.

Sage Oak Extension Course (SOX)
This course will be offered each semester for students enrolled in community college courses. SOX provides support for students concurrently enrolled in community college courses.

Topics will include time management, study skills, course selection, communication skills, navigating college policies, and more! In addition, we are partnering with West Los Angeles Community College and will be utilizing their Introduction to Post-Secondary Education curriculum.

The course will be offered on Tuesdays at 11:00 AM beginning on Tuesday, September 14th, and will be recorded.

Middle School Saxon Math Courses –
Now Enrolling!
Our Saxon math classes are open for enrollment! This year we are offering Saxon 6/5, Saxon 7/6, Saxon 8/7, and Saxon Algebra 1/2. The classes include twice-a-week live-online instruction with our middle school math teacher along with the Saxon Math Kits available from Rainbow Resource.
