This week, Sage Oak High School is celebrating… ![]() 🌟Alina Slaughter (11th Grade)🌟 Graduating a full year early while taking community college courses since 9th grade is impressive—but what truly sets Alina Slaughter apart is her heart for service. She dedicates about 12 hours each week volunteering at the Yorba Linda Public Library, leading children’s storytimes, activities, and puppet shows. Alina has also stepped into leadership by mentoring teen volunteers, serving on the Teen Advisory Board, and representing the Children’s Department at an Orange County–wide storytelling workshop. With over 450 volunteer hours and three consecutive Presidential Volunteer Service Award Gold honors, her impact is remarkable. In addition, Alina has been an AVID tutor, is a talented crocheter, and will earn the Seal of Biliteracy in Japanese. Through Sage Oak’s Community Service and ASB Leadership classes, Alina has continued to grow her leadership skills while making a difference. She shares that Sage Oak has been “an amazing fit” because it allows her to devote meaningful time to volunteering. After graduation, Alina plans to complete one final year of community college—where she is on track to earn up to three AA degrees—before transferring to a four-year university and pursuing a career in forensic psychology, inspired by her passion for helping others. ![]() Mock Job Interview Activity ![]() Help your student step confidently into their future by connecting them with real-world experience. Our mock job interview program pairs high school students with community members, giving them the chance to practice professional communication, build confidence, and receive valuable feedback. Together, we can bridge the gap between virtual learning and real-life success! Sign up here to participate in the mock job virtual interview activity the week of May 18th-22nd. Students will attend a training session the week of May 4th-8th on how to conduct themselves, dress, and answer job interview questions to prepare for a successful mock interview.
