(HS CTE) Future Leaders: Riverside City Hall Experience
October 23 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

This event is for 9th-12th grade PLA students and their families. Children younger than 9th grade are not permitted to attend. All students must be accompanied by an adult.
Go behind the scenes of local government with an exclusive tour of Riverside City Hall! High school students will explore how decisions are made within their community while gaining firsthand insight into the roles and responsibilities of local government leaders.
The experience begins in the City Council Chambers, where students will participate in a presentation about the structure and function of city government. Students may even have the opportunity to meet a City Council member and, if schedules allow, receive a special greeting from the Mayor. The tour continues through key areas of City Hall, including the Public Utilities Department and the Mayor's Ceremonial Room, providing a unique look at the departments that help keep Riverside running every day.
The experience concludes with a walk around the Grier Pavilion, where students will enjoy breathtaking 360-degree views of Riverside while learning about the city's growth, development, and future.
This field trip is an excellent opportunity for students interested in government, public service, law, public administration, urban planning, and civic leadership. Students will leave with a greater understanding of how local government impacts their daily lives and the many career pathways available in public service.
