Sage Oak Charter School’s enrichment program, Oakschool, offers dozens of art classes that provide opportunities for our TK-8 students to explore their artistic talents with credentialed teachers. Oakschool teachers bring their expertise and creativity to both virtual courses and in-person “Art in the Park” classes, held in various locations across Southern California, making them accessible to all our students.
These classes allow our elementary and middle-school students to experiment with a wide range of mediums and methods, from sculpting, acrylic painting and creating comic pages to doing interior design! They offer an incredible foundation for our students who want to explore more specialized studies in our Arts CTE pathway when they get to high school.
Fourth grade student, Daniella, from our Personalized Learning Academy, shared her experience with Sage Oak Art teacher, June McDonald.
“I feel relaxed, focused, and happy when I am creating art! I love learning new skills because it makes me a better artist. Some of my favorite Oakschool classes are resin, polymer clay, sketching, acrylic painting, alcohol inks, and wood burning. Thank you, Mrs. McDonald, for teaching me so many different art skills and techniques! I love taking classes with you!”
It’s exciting to see how our students’ artistic journeys can advance from TK-12th grade. Sage Oak High School’s CTE Arts, Media & Entertainment pathway offers a structured curriculum for high school students who are ready to dive deeper into their artistic passions. This program offers students the opportunity to learn advanced techniques and prepare for creative career paths.
Art at Sage Oak isn’t just about creating something beautiful– it’s also one more way we offer students a personalized way to discover a sense of self, build confidence, and find joy in their individual expression. Whether a student is a curious beginner or a high school student who is aspiring to be a professional artist, our variety of classes provide opportunities for students to explore, experiment, and evolve. We love seeing where their creativity takes them!
