Introducing the PAGE Program: Sage Oak’s Program for Advanced and Gifted Education

Gifted students thrive when challenged in ways that go beyond the traditional classroom, and that’s what Sage Oak Charter Schools’  Program for Advanced and Gifted Education (PAGE) offers. We are excited to provide unique opportunities to spark curiosity and creativity in gifted learners, who often need extra academic challenges to stay engaged in their learning.

Imagine learning about ecosystems at the Fullerton Arboretum, studying aviation history at the March Air Force Museum, or exploring marine life at the Aquarium of the Pacific! We’re excited to offer these special in-person “Enrichment Expeditions” to our PAGE students, providing hands-on learning and opportunities for critical thinking. Additionally, our “Virtual Voyages” bring immersive learning directly to students at home. These include virtual trips like a visit to the San Diego Zoo Safari Park that explores the science of wildlife conservation, or to the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, where a museum educator guides our PAGE students through coral reef biodiversity, using the same methods of observation, classification, and quantification as Smithsonian scientists!

The PAGE program also includes an “Inspire & Ignite” speaker series where professionals share their career journeys, providing students with invaluable first-person insights. Students can meet experts like Jasmine Warga, an award-winning author of many incredible books, including the Newbery Honor-winning Other Words for Home.

We are also fortunate to have Dr. Thomas A. Hegna, a paleontologist with a Ph.D. from Yale University, who is eager to share his passion for ancient life and paleontology with our PAGE students. These inspiring speakers in our “Inspire & Ignite” series will share their career paths and insights with the hope of encouraging our gifted students to dream big and discover real-world applications for their talents.

For the parents of our PAGE students, raising gifted learners brings unique joys and challenges. Our Parent Pathways webinars provide resources on everything from understanding emotional intensity to navigating high school pathways. These webinars are invaluable to parents who want to nurture their gifted children with intentionality.

Students are eligible to be assessed for the PAGE program at the end of second grade. Students may be identified in one of two categories: High Achieving Gifted Student or Intellectually Gifted Student. The PAGE Program isn’t just about academic enrichment; it’s about fostering a lifelong love of learning and empowering gifted students to grow, explore, and thrive.
