This week is designed to encourage responsible digital citizenship, online safety, and respectful communication. They have compiled a fantastic library of age-appropriate lessons, activities, podcasts, and videos for students and families. This year’s focus includes new resources to support students’ digital well-being in the age of AI. While parental controls can be helpful tools, the most effective way to keep kids safe online is by staying actively involved in their digital lives. Open conversations and teaching healthy media habits make the biggest difference. This guide covers the basics of setting up parental controls on various devices and platforms. Here are some great resources we encourage you to check out: Family Resources & Tips: A free collection of printable family tips, activities, videos, and podcasts organized by grade span (TK–2, K–5, 6-8) covering topics like media balance, privacy, digital footprints, and cyberbullying. Digital Citizenship Curriculum + Activities: Short, scaffolded video-based lessons and discussion prompts by grade level. Students can work independently or with the help of caregivers for home discussion. Want more support? Common Sense Media offers a family and community engagement program, allowing you to sign up to receive additional resources throughout the year. Ms. Allie, your School Counselor, and the Sage Oak Team are also here to partner with you. Together, we can help students become thoughtful, responsible, and confident digital citizens and positively utilize technology. Wishing you a wonderful week ahead! ![]() Sincerely, Mrs. Lana Beshara Virtual Learning Academy Princip |
