(PLA) Strike It Rich! A Gold Mining Adventure in Julian

This event is for K-12th grade PLA students and their families. All students must be accompanied by an adult.
Step back in time and experience the excitement of California's Gold Rush at Eagle Mining Co. in Julian! During this immersive four-part tour, students and families will explore a real gold mine, learn how gold was discovered and extracted, and gain a firsthand understanding of life as a miner in the late 1800s.
Participants will venture underground into the historic mine, see authentic mining equipment and machinery, and discover how miners processed ore to recover valuable gold. Students will also learn about the milling and extraction processes that helped shape California's history and economy.
The adventure continues as students try their hand at panning for gold, just like the prospectors of old. They'll also explore a simulated Boothill and hear fascinating stories about the people, challenges, and innovations that defined the Gold Rush era.
This hands-on experience brings history, science, engineering, and California heritage to life while giving students a deeper appreciation for the determination, creativity, and hard work of early settlers. Join us for a day of exploration, discovery, and maybe even a little gold!

Tickets can be purchased out of pocket or with Instructional Funds (for Sage Oak students). Purchasing with Instructional Funds: Please verify with your student’s teacher/EA that your student has sufficient instructional funds available for this purchase. We are not able to provide alternative payment options if there are insufficient funds and we are not able to refund any accompanying out-of-pocket ticket purchases. Please read the field trip description carefully. If an accompanying adult ticket is required, be sure to claim an adult ticket. If student/sibling tickets are claimed without accompanying adult tickets, we are not able to provide refunds for canceled student/sibling tickets.
Please note that during school field trips and other school-sponsored community events, photos and videos may be taken where students could appear in group settings. While we make every effort to respect media preferences, students may sometimes be captured in the background or within group shots in public spaces. If your child does not have media consent on file, they will not be the main focus of any photo or video. We do not highlight or identify individuals without prior consent.
