(PLA) River Explorers: The Great Bug Hunt!

This event is for 1st-8th grade PLA students and their families. Children younger than 1st grade will not be able to participate in the programming (siblings included). All students must be accompanied by an adult, but no adult ticket needs to be purchased as you will assist your student vs. participate in the program.
Get ready to become a real-life river scientist! 🌊🔍
Students will jump into an exciting hands-on adventure at the San Diego River, where they’ll search for tiny creatures called “river bugs” hiding in the water. These amazing little critters help scientists understand how clean and healthy a river is! As part of a real citizen science experience, students will collect, observe, and sort these creatures—just like environmental scientists do. Along the way, they’ll uncover clues about the river’s health and discover how people can help protect this important ecosystem.
It’s a fun, messy, and eye-opening day of exploring nature, making discoveries, and learning how we can all care for our planet! 🌿💧

Tickets can be purchased out of pocket or with Instructional Funds (for Sage Oak students). Purchasing with Instructional Funds: Please verify with your student’s teacher/EA that your student has sufficient instructional funds available for this purchase. We are not able to provide alternative payment options if there are insufficient funds and we are not able to refund any accompanying out-of-pocket ticket purchases. Please read the field trip description carefully. If an accompanying adult ticket is required, be sure to claim an adult ticket. If student/sibling tickets are claimed without accompanying adult tickets, we are not able to provide refunds for canceled student/sibling tickets.
Please note that during school field trips and other school-sponsored community events, photos and videos may be taken where students could appear in group settings. While we make every effort to respect media preferences, students may sometimes be captured in the background or within group shots in public spaces. If your child does not have media consent on file, they will not be the main focus of any photo or video. We do not highlight or identify individuals without prior consent.
