Career Technical Education
What is a Career Technical Education Pathway?
A Career Technical Education (CTE) pathway is a sequence of two or more CTE courses within a student’s area of career interest. Pathways are designed to connect high school classes to college, industry certifications, and/or a career.
Arts, Media, & Entertainment Pathway
The Arts, Media, & Entertainment pathway teaches the skills for creating, refining, and sharing work in Arts, Media, and Entertainment industries. It promotes teamwork, communication, creative thinking, and decision-making abilities, all important skills for success in the competitive, media-rich twenty-first century.
Child Development & Family Services Pathway
The Child Development Pathway will train students for employment in infant/child care centers, preschools, and school-age childcare programs. Students learn the developmental stages of children from conception through early adolescence, including the major theories of development and their application.
Information Technology Pathway
The Informational Technology Pathway equips students with the academic and technical competencies to excel computer science. Students will acquire critical skills in problem-solving, innovative thinking, programming, networking, the Internet of Things, cybersecurity, as well as personal and network security.
Sports Medicine
The Sports Medicine Pathway teaches the skills and qualities needed to be successful in the field of Sports Medicine. Upon completion of this pathway students will demonstrate an understanding of common sports injuries, injury prevention, pathologies, mechanisms, etiology, recognition, signs, symptoms, treatments, and complications.
Marketing and Entrepreneurship
The Marketing and Entrepreneurship pathway integrates entrepreneurship education into academic and technical curriculum. Students learn skills like financial planning, interpersonal skills, and creative problem-solving. They will learn how to start their own business, including doing business planning, marketing, and sales.
Why is it beneficial for a student to select a CTE pathway?
Students in a CTE pathway gain academic and technical skills, meeting College and Career Readiness standards upon graduation. Courses follow the CTE Model Curriculum and Academic Content Standards, with a sequence that builds from foundational knowledge to advanced Capstone coursework.

Increases career readiness
-Experts project 47 million job openings in the decade ending in 2018. About one-third will require an associate’s degree or certificate and nearly all will require real-world skills that can be mastered through CTE.
