Ronald McDonald House Walk for Kids 2024 We are excited to continue Sage Oak’s tradition of creating teams to participate in the annual Ronald McDonald House Walk for Kids. The Walk for Kids is an annual community fundraiser that supports the children and families who rely on the life-changing services and programs provided by the Ronald McDonald House. This fun, family-friendly event calls on volunteers, companies, and donors within their local communities to keep families close when they need it the most. We will have Sage Oak teams at the Ventura, Inland Empire (Fontana), and Orange County (Irvine) Walk for Kids this year! Registration is $25 for adults. Children 17 and under are free! All team members (students, families, staff) are encouraged to meet up prior to the race for some connection time and photo opportunities. CLICK HERE Branch Out Summer Bridge Program K-7th Each year, students can access our Sage Oak’s Branch Out summer program. This is a complimentary, self-paced online program featuring daily pre-recorded video lessons aimed at keeping your student’s brain sharp over the summer break. It is not too early to plan for this program in order to use your school funds to purchase the workbooks.Students going into grades K-7th grade will watch short introductory video lessons, play online learning games, and complete workbook pages that review the concepts of the previous grade level and prepare them for the next grade level. The Summer Bridge workbook can be purchased from Carson Dellosa for the grade that the student will be entering next year. The middle school math program consists of short video lessons reviewing pre-algebra and algebra concepts with accompanying practice worksheets. No curriculum is needed for the middle school program. Testing Anxiety Resources CAASPP testing is soon approaching, and we are excited for our students to do their best and shine! While feeling nervous before a test is natural, some students find test-taking debilitating. In our recorded parent workshop and student presentation, we teach you and your students strategies to help them cope with testing anxiety. If you have questions or need additional help, we’d love to meet with you and discuss how to support your student best! The annual Beckman Arts & Science Family Festival allows attendees of all ages to explore the connections between science STEM and the arts. The Festival will host over 20 community partners including the Discovery Cube, Santa Ana Zoo, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Kaiser Permanente, and the Columbia Memorial Space Center, to name a few, who will each provide hands on activities ranging from magnetic robots to animating flip books to Lego race cars to wind turbines and so much more. There will also be food trucks (food is the only item with cost), balloon twisters, bubbles, airbrush tattoos, and mini train rides. It is going to be an amazing day and based on last year’s event, they are expecting around 2,000 attendees! City of STEM + LA Maker Faire: On Saturday, April 6th at Los Angeles State Historic Park, City of STEM and the Los Angeles Maker Faire are combining, creating an amazing all day event that kicks off a month-long celebration. Presented in partnership with the Los Angeles Public Library and Maker Faire, the day is tailor-made for scientists, makers, engineers, creators, and explorers of all ages. You get the Los Angeles Maker Faire and City of STEM all in one place on the same day! From 9 am–6 pm, there will be hands-on activities, inspiring demonstrations, expert presentations, crafting, food, and more! Sage Studio Podcast & YouTube Channel The Sage Studio podcast is a great platform for parents to stay informed, inspired, and connected with all things Sage Oak!
