Welcome to the High School Family Updates! This newsletter is sent out every week to high school parents, students and Education Advisors with important news, reminders and upcoming events. Look for it every week! UPCOMING DATE REMINDERS: 25-26 Academic Calendar September 19 End of LP1! September 22 LP2 begins September 26 Huntington Beach Clean Up GENERAL UPDATES LPM’s 👉🏼 The very first Learning Period Meetings will begin at the end of LP1 (this Friday!). Your student’s EA will be reaching out about scheduling the first in-person LPM! STUDENT VACATIONS 👉🏼 if you plan to travel for an extended period of time during the school year (over 3 weeks), students must let their EA know prior to leaving to ensure there are no issues with account access or testing requirements while traveling. INTERVENTION UPDATE: You should have received your student’s i-Ready scores by now and provided with intervention opportunities if applicable. Make sure to reach out to your EA if you have any questions! As a reminder, ALL students have access to tutor.com AND Content Support Sessions 🤩! If you need help navigating all that tutor.com has to offer, HERE is a helpful resource! IGETC UPDATES If you are taking Community College courses working toward completing lower general education requirements, there has been a change in the community college/CSU/UC system and IGETC will no longer be used. ALL high school students will now fall under the Cal-GETC requirements starting fall of 2025. If you would like more information about Cal-GETC, earning an AA degree, and general dual enrollment information please join our counselor, Ms. Coral this Thursday, September 18th at 1:15. She will be doing a webinar explaining the differences in Cal-GETC, earning an AA degree, how to use assist.org, etc. Here is the Zoom Link if you’d like to join! LIFE HACKS “Life Hacks” is BACK and will start up this Friday, September 19th at NOON! PSAT/AP CLASS UPDATES If your student is interested in taking the PSAT, please fill out this form to get more information about testing locations.The PSAT can be taken in the 10th or 11th grade. When taken in 11th, students may qualify for National Merit Scholarship.If your student is currently enrolled in an AP class, please make sure they fill out this form to get more information about registering for the exam. Tickets available NOW! Huntington Beach Clean Up: Friday, September 26 All Sage Oak families are invited to join us at Huntington State Beach for a day of community, fun, and sunshine! We’ll start the morning with a beach cleanup in honor of the California Coastal Cleanup Day. Feel free to bring your own picnic lunch, blankets, and beach gear to enjoy after the beach cleanup. Great Wall of LA: Thursday, October 2 Join us for a self-guided visit to Judy Baca’s famous mural, The Great Wall of Los Angeles!
