News & Updates Welcome back from Thanksgiving Break! College & Career Week Winner! A big thank you to ALL the students who took on College & Career Week challenges, attended Zooms, explored resources, watched a video on Pathful or in some way participated! We hope you learned something new, were inspired to think about your own post-high school plans and were reminded that it’s never too early or too late to think about your own bright future! Child Development Club Toy & Clothing Drive: It’s the season of giving and you can join the fun by donating to the Child Development Club’s Toy & Clothing Drive! Students are encouraged to bring new or gently used toys, clothing, blankets or books to any of the 4 drop off locations to be donated to the University Women’s Homeless Shelter. Look for a Sage Oak student and a sign that says “Sage Oak Child Development Donation Drop Off” at each location below! The U.S. Department of Education uses the FAFSA to determine student eligibility for federal student aid, including low-cost loans, grants, and work-study. The FAFSA may also determine eligibility for state and school aid as well. All graduates must complete the FASFA or submit the opt-out form. The first steps is to create a FSA ID. Student Spotlight Welcome to our Student Spotlight where we highlight some of our amazing Sage Oak high school students and their accomplishments in and outside of the classroom! When he isn’t in class or doing homework, you can often find 10th grade student Logan Salazar on a run. On October 20th, he participated in the Mission Inn Half Marathon Race and finished 1st place in his age division! He trained by running several times per week and ran the full 13.1 miles several times before the actual race. He also researched professional runners and their training programs, technique, and diet and supported his running regimen with weight training. Logan’s overall time was 1 hour, 51 minutes and 40 seconds with an 8 minute, 31 seconds average mile pace. Way to go Logan! 🏃 |

NEW DATE Wild Good Coffee Roasters: All high school students are invited to join our CTE Entrepreneurship students as they tour the Wild Goose Coffee Roasters espresso bar, roasting rooms, and warehouse in Redlands, CA. They will learn about socially responsible business practices in the food industry and how a former teacher turned his dream into a reality. Friday, December 13th, 12pm. Flyer & Sign-Up Form. December HS Hangouts: All high school students are invited to join our December ASB high school hangouts in Pasadena! Join us on December 13th at the Pasadena Ice Skating Center for food and skating! We’ll start with lunch at 12-1pm followed by a skating period from 1-3pm. The skating sessions costs $20 with skate rental. Sign up HERE. January HS Hangout will be in South Orange County – more details to come! Prom: Save the date! Prom 2025 will be held on May 17th at the House of Blues in Anaheim. Open to all Sage Oak high school students. Tickets will be available soon on the Sage Oak website! HS Life Hacks: All students are invited to our weekly Life Hacks sessions, every Friday at 12pm on Zoom to learn tips and tricks to help navigate high school life with HS Counselor Ms. Coral. UC Admission Stats by Discipline: If you are interested in applying to a UC, check out this recent dashboard of Freshman Admission by Discipline. This data shows admission rates (and GPAs) of accepted freshman applicants by particular UC and by discipline to help see which colleges and areas of study are more or less competitive.
