(PLA) Our Big Kitchen: Cook For a Cause

This event is for TK-12th grade PLA students and their families. All students must be accompanied by an adult. Children under 5 years old are not permitted to attend.
Join Sage Oak teachers and staff at Our Big Kitchen Los Angeles (OBKLA), an industrial kitchen that serves as a hub for volunteers to come together, cook under the guidance of experienced chefs, and distribute meals to families in need across the city. At OBKLA, school programs are designed to teach students about giving and about those less fortunate from a young age by creating meaningful opportunities for students to learn and give back in a practical way. Students will learn new cooking skills while having fun and prepping hundreds of meals.
On this exciting field trip, students and their families will have a chef guide them through prepping and cooking a hot, restaurant quality meal, This may include activities such as chopping vegetables, rolling meatballs, or preparing chicken cutlets depending on the menu. While the food is cooking, participants will prepare the packaging for the meal and roll homemade cookie dough to prepare for baking. Once the meal is cooked, participants will distribute it into the containers for delivery. Finally, it's time to taste test the cookies for quality assurance!

Sibling Ticket (Children 5 and above only): $24
Adult Ticket: $24
ALL WAITLISTS WILL BE AVAILABLE AT 8AM ON JANUARY 21.
Tickets can be purchased out of pocket or with Instructional Funds (for Sage Oak students). Purchasing with Instructional Funds: Please verify with your student’s teacher/EA that your student has sufficient instructional funds available for this purchase. We are not able to provide alternative payment options if there are insufficient funds and we are not able to refund any accompanying out-of-pocket ticket purchases. Please read the field trip description carefully. If an accompanying adult ticket is required, be sure to claim an adult ticket. If student/sibling tickets are claimed without accompanying adult tickets, we are not able to provide refunds for canceled student/sibling tickets.
Please note that during school field trips and other school-sponsored community events, photos and videos may be taken where students could appear in group settings. While we make every effort to respect media preferences, students may sometimes be captured in the background or within group shots in public spaces. If your child does not have media consent on file, they will not be the main focus of any photo or video. We do not highlight or identify individuals without prior consent.
