Employment FAQs

Do I have to live within the counties that the school serves?

Yes, all employees must reside within one of the nine counties in which Sage Oak serves (San Bernardino, Riverside, Orange, San Diego, Imperial, Inyo, Ventura, Los Angeles, Kern).

What should I expect from the candidate process?

Our interview process generally consists of several steps, which may include a one-way Spark Hire interview, a virtual interview, and an in-person interview. If selected to move forward in the hiring process, a representative from our team will provide additional details upon initial contact.

Am I guaranteed a certain number of students?

We can’t make a guarantee of any amount of students at any given time. We are constantly evaluating our enrollment numbers and hire only in areas of need. However, as within traditional settings, students move or disenroll for different reasons. We make every effort to keep teachers at their desired student count.

Who should I use as references or obtain letters of recommendation from?

We encourage candidates to submit letters of recommendation from individuals who can speak to their skills, knowledge, character, and work ethic. At least one letter should be from a current or former supervisor.

All letters of recommendation submitted with your application must be dated within the last three (3) years and include a date. Applications with letters that are undated or dated more than three (3) years ago will be considered incomplete, will not be accepted, and will not be considered for the recruitment. Please note that references may also be contacted prior to an offer of employment.

Is there a possibility of remote work?

As a non-classroom based charter school, many of our positions include remote or hybrid work, however, this will ultimately depend upon the needs of the school and the department. If selected to move forward in the hiring process, a representative from our team will provide additional information as it pertains to the specific positions being applied for.
