Do I have to live within the counties that the school serves?
Yes, all employees must reside within one of the nine counties in which Sage Oak serves (San Bernardino, Riverside, Orange, San Diego, Imperial, Inyo, Ventura, Los Angeles, Kern).
Should I apply in more than one county?
No, please only apply in one county. Upon hire, the radius of each candidate’s service area is determined by the school’s administration and based on enrollment and staffing.
What should I expect from the candidate process?
Our interview process generally consists of several steps, which may include a phone interview, a virtual interview, and an in-person interview. If selected to move forward in the hiring process, a representative from our team will provide additional details upon initial contact.
Am I guaranteed a certain number of students?
We can’t make a guarantee of any amount of students at any given time. We are constantly evaluating our enrollment numbers and hire only in areas of need. However, as within traditional settings, students move or disenroll for different reasons. We make every effort to keep teachers at their desired student count.
Who should I use as references or obtain letters of recommendation from?
We encourage candidates to submit references that are as current as possible and from a source that can speak to their skills, knowledge, character, and work ethic. Our preference is that at least one reference is from a person that supervised the applicant. Please note that references are contacted prior to offering the candidate employment.
Is there a possibility of remote work?
As a non-classroom based charter school, many of our positions include remote or hybrid work, however, this will ultimately depend upon the needs of the school and the department. If selected to move forward in the hiring process, a representative from our team will provide additional information as it pertains to the specific positions being applied for.
What type of teacher training can I expect to receive?
Our regional mentors will train and provide hands-on support while you learn the responsibilities and duties of a Sage Oak teacher. Administrators meet monthly to collaborate with their team on various topics and receive teacher feedback.
