The Sage Oak Blog: Small School Districts Association Highlights Sage Oak

We’re excited to share the latest accolade for Sage Oak Charter Schools, a leading charter school in Southern California. Recently featured in the Small School Districts’ Association (SSDA) newsletter, Sage Oak has been recognized for its exceptional approach to education, specifically in offering unique programs and opportunities to students in the region.

Sage Oak Charter Schools proudly stands out for its focus on specialized classes in coding, STEM, and Career Technical Education (CTE) courses for high school students. These programs are tailored to equip our students with the skills necessary for both academic and real-world success.

The SSDA article highlights Sage Oak’s innovative educational strategies and our impact. As a personalized learning charter school, Sage Oak is shaping the future of education by providing individualized learning experiences that meet the diverse needs of students. Whether you’re involved in education, a parent considering school options, or a community member interested in local educational developments, this spotlight on our school is sure to inspire.

The article stated, “Meanwhile, over at the larger Sage Oak Charter Schools independent program, students are embracing new technology, including AI and coding. While also a TK-12 program, Sage Oak includes three virtual schools with a total student body of over four thousand. Founded in 2015, Sage Oak has focused on CTE during the 2023-2024 academic year, with classes on STEM, public services, and business for its students alongside numerous field trips to museums and aquariums.”

This recognition not only reaffirms our commitment to educational excellence but also emphasizes the community’s growing recognition of the quality and range of our educational offerings. It is a testament to the hard work of our educators and staff, who strive to provide top-notch educational experiences that are both engaging and enriching.

The article continues with a statement from Krista Woodgrift, Sage Oak Superintendent and CEO, “Because we don’t have a site, we do a lot of community learning,” Sage Oak Superintendent and CEO Krista Woodgrift said. “Virtual learning academy students participate in field trips together with their classmates at least once a month—they get together as individual classes as well as a whole program— and it’s really sweet to see even your middle school students who have been learning online together in their classes getting to meet in person for the first time, so these relationships can really be cultivated online and then deepened when they get together in person.”

Thank you to the Small School Districts’ Association for exploring the excellence that sets Sage Oak apart in Southern California’s educational landscape! This recognition is not only a nod to our present achievements but also to how we are pioneering educational practices and creating meaningful experiences in a non-classroom-based environment.
