Counseling Corner

October is Bullying Prevention Month, a month-long event to prevent bullying and promote kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. At Sage Oak, we seek to create a safe, supportive learning environment, including positivity, inclusiveness, and respect for our students and families.

One way we do this is to share resources we hope will help and support our families. Here are some ways in which you can talk to your children about bullying and the many roles children play in bullying. Additionally, here are some ways we can support all kids in our community to protect them against bullying and other risky behaviors. Lastly, here are some resources for kids to learn about the critical role they play in bullying prevention. For additional bullying resources or if you’d like to talk to a trusted adult about bullying, please reach out to our school counselor, Allie Whalen using our Counselor Request Form.  We are committed to addressing and preventing bullying!

President’s Volunteer Service Award
For the fourth year in a row, Sage Oak is excited to be partnering with the President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA). We are proud to be a certifying organization with PVSA which provides the opportunity to honor our students that have made great efforts to embrace Sage Oak’s core value of service. You can learn more about PVSA by visiting this link.

Last year we had over 50 students participate, and they logged over 5,000 service hours! This year our PVSA award timeframe will run from Saturday, May 1, 2021 until Saturday, April 30, 2022. We will be recognizing all award recipients at our end of the year Socials. We hope to be able to host in-person events at the end of the year.

Any students interested in this award are encouraged to register as a participant using the below steps.

  1. Please complete this survey in its entirety.

  2. After submitting the above survey, you will receive an email from sageserves@sageoak.education on the next steps.
