The Great Kindness Challenge
“Three things in human life are important: the first is to be kind; the second is to be kind; and the third is to be kind.” Henry James

The Great Kindness Challenge, a worldwide event, will be held next week January 27-31 and is devoted to performing as many acts of kindness as possible. According to StopBullying.gov, in order to combat bullying, schools must “encourage students to show thoughtfulness and respect for peers, adults and the school.” Using the attached kindness checklists, students can accept the Great Kindness Challenge, have fun, and show the world that KINDNESS MATTERS! Be sure to share your kindness with us and the world by posting your kind acts in action using the hashtag: #GreatKindnessChallenge and #GKCSageOak. We can't wait to see our Sage Oak students shine!

6th-8th Grade Cultivate and Create Winner Spotlight
In our first annual Cultivate and Create event, sixth-grader Isabella Huerta won our 6th-8th grade category for her visual arts piece, Be the One. She was inspired to create an umbrella of protection for children who have negative experiences with other kids. She writes, “in the same way an umbrella protects us from the rain, we can speak the positive things about their character to protect them from those mean things. If kids would not judge a book by its cover, you would get to know who they truly are.” You can view Isabella’s meaningful piece here.
