Happy Thursday Virtual Learning Academy!  This month has been all about service and we are so excited to see over 100 of you tomorrow for our Huntington Beach clean-up trip! It is a joy to have this opportunity to serve our community. We look forward to extending our reach across the globe as we come together for our One School, One Book program and the Iron Giraffe Challenge as well. Read below for more details! He holds the world record for paper airplane distance and, as the author of four books on aerodynamics, has been called the foremost expert on paper planes. Mr. Collins will also teach us how to fold his World Record plane, so bring a few sheets of blank paper. Link: https://bit.ly/sageoakstage Passcode: sagestage  One School, One Book Reading Program Every grade from TK to 8th in our Virtual Learning Academy will begin reading on Monday for our One School, One Book reading program! Check out this quick video that describes what it is all about! We will be reading Nya’s Long Walk (TK – 2nd grades) and A Long Walk to Water (3rd-8th grades). In addition to this opportunity and as part of highlighting Sage Oak’s core value of Service, any families who are interested in helping us bring clean water to people across the globe can participate through our Iron Giraffe Challenge for us to fully rehabilitate a well!For more information about this fundraising opportunity, as well as additional information and resources for the One School, One Book reading plan, please click below! CLICK HERE  Promotion Ceremony and End-of-the-Year Social We are thrilled to have an in-person promotion ceremony for our Kindergarten, 5th, and 8th grade students on the morning of our end-of-the-year social on Thursday, May 30th, in Rancho Cucamonga. Please note we will have three separate and short ceremonies for the three grade levels starting at 9:30 am with the social following shortly afterward at 10:30 am. In addition to the in-person promotion ceremonies and end-of-year social, VLA kindergarten, 5th graders, and 8th graders will have virtual promotion ceremonies during class time on Wednesday, June 5th. Pictures of the WeekCheck out our amazing 1st graders in Mrs. Pelkey’s class who learned about the phases of the moon with oreos! Our 2nd graders in Mrs. Trujillo’s class explored the strength of different materials as they were challenged to build a structure that could handle the weight of their textbook – take a look at those amazing engineering skills!
