Counseling Connection Newsletter
The Counseling Connection Newsletter is a resource for students that includes social-emotional learning lessons and self-care strategies. Just like students need to learn to read and write, they also need to be explicitly taught social skills and how to manage their emotions.

SEL improves social skills and academic performance and reduces emotional stress and problem behaviors. It is thought to be the necessary foundation for kids to succeed in school, careers, and life.  We hope your students enjoy these lessons and their learning brings increased self-awareness and hope. If you have any questions about the Counselor Connection Newsletter or wish to make an appointment with our counselor, Allie Whalen, please sign up here for Coffee with the Counselor.

Counseling Groups: 7 Habits of Effective Students
Students and parents loved our first semester 7 habits group! Parents shared, “There is so much more to success and happiness than traditional academics and this group covered great topics in an age-appropriate way.” Additionally, students reported the group was fun. “I liked that it wasn't just oriented around school” and their favorite parts were the “activities, honesty, and togetherness.” The second semester group interest list is now open. Based on The 7 Habits of Effective People book series, we will be working through these 7 habits and teaching students effective ways to thrive in school and life. Students will be divided into four groups based on their grade levels: TK-Grade 2, Grades 3-5, Grades 6-8, and Grades 9-12.
