Sage Oak Calendars

This experience is recommended for 3rd grade and up. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Learn about the unique visual culture of California by exploring landscapes, portraiture, and still life! Enjoy an interactive, docent guided tour of the Bowers Museum's California Bounty Exhibition. Students will immerse themselves in the tradition of Plein  Air painting by creating their own landscape. After viewing and discussing the different painting techniques  implemented by 19th and 20th century Plein Air painters in  California, they will step outside and partake in the century’s long tradition to paint the scene around them.  View the California Bounty Cultural Art Project flyer and visit The Bowers Museum website for more information.

This field trip begins at 9:30 am. Please arrive 30 minutes early to park and check-in.
