This is the first session in a 3 part California Legacy series. You do not need to sign up for all three sessions, but you are welcome to.
Each session will include a live docent-led, interaction Zoom with a Q & A portion (if unable to attend live session, a recorded option can be provided). As a follow-up, students will receive an art kit and pre-recorded art lesson to complete on your own.
Part 1: First Californians
Before Europeans claimed the land of California, the indigenous first Californians created a sustainable existence - living with nature’s gifts from both the land and the sea. Explore the Bowers’ extensive permanent collection of Native American art and artifacts in stone, shell, and spectacular basketry. Through close observation and guided inquiry, students develop an understanding of the culture of Native Californians. Art Project: Woven Baskets
Recommended for grades 3 and up, however any students may sign up.
$30 per student or sibling. (includes Zoom session, art kit and shipping)
