In an effort to continually improve and ensure the success of our students and the longevity of the school our leadership team has been busy preparing for the 2021-22 school year. The new school year will be here before we know it and we are genuinely grateful for the opportunity to continue in our service to each of you as well as our new incoming families.
It is important that we share a reminder of the context of the current landscape that we, as a public school, are in. The two-year moratorium that was imposed on new nonclassroom-based charter schools allowed time for this model to be researched and reviewed so that changes could be legislated. The two-year window is concluding and the reportwe shared previously outlines recommendations to the legislature for all nonclassroom-based charter schools. It is important to note that while the negative findings in the report do not reflect Sage Oak, the report did share many concerns that we believe the legislature will consider and use to enact new laws during the current legislative session.
Our goal is to make decisions that are proactive in nature and that also support our core values, mission, and vision. We strive to only make changes that will benefit our students’ success and help us to better align with the direction we see the legislature moving in.
