Winter Break 2019
School is closed in observance of winter break starting Monday, December 23th - Friday, January 3rd. We wish you a fantastic break and a Happy New Year!
Cultivate & Create Contest Winners
We are thrilled to announce our Sage Oak Cultivate and Create art contest winners. All of the entries were so inspirational and really captured the theme of #BeTheOne in creative ways! Over the coming weeks, participants will receive participation certificates and the winners’ work will be highlighted in the next few issues of Sage News starting in January. Congratulations to this year's winners!
Tk-2nd Grade Winner: 
  • Kindergartener, Kyrie Inman, for her dance/choreography piece titled: Whatever Profession You Choose, Be the One to Make the World a Better Place.
3rd-5th Grade Winner:
  • 4th Grader, Micah Murray, for his visual arts piece titled:
    Malcolm at Sea.
6th-8th Grade Winner:
  • 6th Grader, Isabella Huerta, for her visual arts piece titled: Be the One.
9th-12 Grade Winners (these winners tied to the 1/2 point!)
  • 10th Grader, Elijah Van der Fluir, for his film production titled: Be the One: Movie Edition.
     
  • 10th Grader, Fatima Sullivan, for her music composition titled: Light and Salt.
     
  • 12th Grader, Talitha Dermovsesian, for her visual arts piece titled: Healing the Community One Brush Stroke at a Time.
Sage Oak Prom 2020
Prom tickets are now on sale! Early bird tickets are $40.00 per person and $70.00 per couple. Early bird ticket sales end on Friday, January 31st. Starting February 1st prices go up to $50.00 per person and $80.00 per couple. Instructional funds may not be used. National School Choice Week

National School Choice Week is coming up the week of January 26 - February 1, 2020. School Choice Week recognizes all K-12 options, including all public schools, public charter schools, private schools, online academies, and homeschooling. This year, we are hosting an essay contest! To participate in our School Choice Week contest, choose one of the following prompts and write up to one-page about why Sage Oak is special to you!
  • What are your three favorite things about Sage Oak?
  • What do you love most about the community at Sage Oak?
  • What is a favorite memory you have at Sage Oak?
  • How has Sage Oak benefited your school experience and/or your time outside of school?
Essays must be submitted by Monday, January 27, 2020. Click the button below to submit. Winners will receive a social media shout out and their essay will be shared on social media and in the Sage News.

Math Matters
Math word problems are often challenging for students as they require students to have strong math vocabulary skills as well as be able to solve problems with multiple steps. This month our Math Matters newsletter focuses on offering some strategies to help make word problems more manageable.
