Week of April 26, 2021

I CAN Be Physically Fit - Finish the year strong
You're invited to participate in the
K-8 Sage Oak Bingo Fitness Challenge! We want to encourage our students to stay active and fit. Regular exercise and physical activity increases energy and promotes strong muscles and bones and research indicates it also helps to enhance brain function.

We encourage each student to participate by printing the appropriate grade level Bingo card and fulfilling each square requirement by the end of the school year! Once you complete your Bingo card, share it with your teacher by the last day of school on June 4th, 2021 and you will earn a fitness award. We hope each student finds this to be an enjoyable challenge and learns new ways to stay active!
Grades TK - 1st Fitness Bingo
Grades 2nd - 4th Fitness Bingo
Grades 5th - 8th Fitness Bingo

Opportunity for High School students
On Monday, May 17th, the Los Angeles World Affairs Council & Town Hall will bring together high school students and policy experts from the non-partisan, non-profit RAND Corporation and RAND Europe, to discuss key lessons students, as future leaders, can take away from this critical moment in history. Speakers will share about their own career journeys, the challenges they’ve faced, and the lessons they’ve learned, as they cover these key questions:
  • What weaknesses has the pandemic exposed in our system of global governance— in relation to the economy, labor, public health, and education — and how might these issues come to impact the current generation of youth?
  • How can we reimagine and repair these systems, and how have past generations showed resilience in facing similar challenges throughout history?
  • How can this effort benefit from the creativity and fresh perspectives younger generations offer, and how can students take action and get involved?

COVID-19 Vaccination Availability
Sage Oak Charter School sends weekly updates to staff regarding COVID-19 vaccine availability. Because every Californian age 16 and up is now eligible for vaccination, the school will be including helpful resources for families interested in the opportunity. As offerings change weekly, we will provide county-specific details in the Sage News. We encourage families that are deciding to pursue vaccination to review the eligibility and registration requirements prior to making an appointment. Please keep in mind that these websites are subject to change and that the sites are not maintained by Sage Oak Charter Schools.

If interested, we have linked all the appointment websites of the counties we serve below:

  • Riverside - Please note, teenagers 16 and 17 years old must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and register for a vaccination clinic that offers the Pfizer vaccine.
