Dear Sage Oak families,
Welcome back from spring break! As the end of the school year quickly approaches, Sage Oak’s assessment and accountability team has been busy monitoring the state’s plan for testing requirements for the 2020-21 school year.
This past week, the U.S. Department of Education approved California’s assessment plan that requested assessment flexibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This assessment plan allows local education agencies (LEAs) to use the most reasonable option for assessing their students in the 2020-21 school year. As a result of this decision and careful consideration for what is in the best interest of our students, Sage Oak has decided not to move forward with CAASPP testing for the 2020-21 school year.
For the 2020-21 school year only, Sage Oak will use results from the fall and spring i-Ready diagnostic assessments to gather data to show student progress in place of the CAASPP assessment. Sage Oak must continue to provide this important data about our students’ progress and growth each year to all stakeholders, including our authorizing school districts. Please continue working toward completing the spring i-Ready assessment before the i-Ready window closes on May 14th, 2021. Parent proctoring will continue to be permitted for the remainder of this year’s i-Ready diagnostic window.
Next year, Sage Oak will not have the option to substitute iReady in place of the CAASPP test. Therefore, in 2021-2022 students will resume participation in CAASPP testing so that Sage Oak can meet the mandatory state testing requirements and accurately reflect data on the California State Dashboard.
Thank you for your support!
