A Day in the Life: How Sage Oak Student, Elijah Lewis, Fits Violin, Sign Language and Much More into His School Schedule

Most high schoolers have time for just one extracurricular activity – maybe two if they’re particularly ambitious. At Sage Oak, students enjoy a flexible, personalized education experience that allows them to explore as many passions as they please, while building a strong sense of autonomy and personal accountability. Student Highlight: The Canham Family

The Canham family has some seriously talented kids! Students Luna and Spencer recently played for a live audience with their rock band Too Much Awesome at Shamrocks where they performed an original song written and composed by Luna. They played with other rock bands from Riffs Music, a fantastic Sage Oak vendor that organizes live performances monthly with several of their rock bands. In addition, Solie and Spencer Canham have been raking in the medals at their Jiu-Jitsu competitions. Solie often competes above her weight class winning medals and Spencer medals at each competition all while earning straight As in his high school classes. December Sage Oak Student Highlights

Sage Oak student Elijah Lewis has been recognized as a Commended student in the National Merit Scholarship program. Commended students are recognized for their outstanding performance on the qualifying test used for program entry. This past summer Elijah also participated in an intensive math program, Math Roots, at MIT. What an accomplishment! We are so incredibly proud of you Elijah! Sage Oak students Jadyn and Ava recently performing in Yucaipa Little Theatre's, "A Little Princess". The girls starred in a story that took you through the life of young Sara Crew, who at one point in her life was a privileged child. Sage Oak Student Wins Brain Chase Trip to Norway, and $10,000 Scholarship

"This isn’t just fiction—there’s a real treasure buried somewhere on Earth. As students complete weekly challenges, they will be given access to videos containing clues to the treasure's location. The first adventurer to decipher the clues and find the treasure will receive a trip to dig it up, along with a $10,000 scholarship." Sage Oak's very own Abby Hurst from Riverside, California is Brain Chase's most recent winner. They flew Abby and her mother to Asker, Norway to unearth the treasure box after being the first student to solve all of the clues. And what's even better? Sage Oak Students Visit Pali Institute on First Overnight Field Trip

Recently, Sage Oak students had the opportunity to take their first overnight field trip to Pali Institute in Running Springs. Nestled in the San Bernardino mountains not too far from Lake Arrowhead, Pali Institute offers science camp for students including activities such as ropes courses, archery, astronomy, animal survivor games, gaga ball, and hiking. Overall the trip was a huge success, gaining positive feedback from both students and parents alike. Even the staff at Pali stated that Sage Oak was the best group they had ever worked with!
